About this event

Newcastle's biggest New Year's Eve party is back. Howaymanay takes over the Quayside on Thursday 31 December 2026 from 8:30pm until 12:15am, ending with a firework finale over the River Tyne at midnight to welcome in 2027.

What's on

  • Live music across two stages, plus DJs
  • Roaming performers and street entertainment
  • Food stalls and bars along the river
  • A midnight firework finale lighting up the Tyne bridges

Tickets

Tickets cost £8 plus a £1 booking fee and must be bought in advance. The event sold out last year and capacity is limited, so book early. Last entry is 11pm, and there is no readmission once you leave.

Choose your entrance

There are three entrances, and you can only enter through the one on your ticket:

  • Entrance A: Sandhill / Guildhall
  • Entrance B: King Street
  • Entrance C: East Quayside / Millennium Bridge

Bringing the kids?

Howaymanay is not suitable for young children. Families are encouraged to come to the free 6pm firework display instead, which does not need a ticket.

Getting there

The Quayside is a short walk downhill from Monument and Central Station. Expect road closures around the Quayside during the day and evening, and check Newcastle City Council's travel updates before you set off.

Hosting your own New Year's Eve party?

If you're celebrating at home or in a hall, Seven Star Events can bring the party to you with DJ hire, disco equipment and event lighting, or a marquee package for a garden celebration anywhere in Newcastle and the North East.
